When Mr Duyvken came home from his Tour de France adventure last year he asked if I would make a baby quilt for one of the men he had met. Martin is Focus Bikes team liaison to the AG2R La Mondiale team (at least he was when this whole project began) and Mr Duyvken and his mate Ben had a great time with him seeing how the team runs and how the Tour unfolds (and then folds back up again to move on to the next stage). Mr Duyvken always watches the Tour and being able to be part of it for a couple of stages was really amazing. Martin and his partner were expecting a baby so making them a baby quilt, using the AG2R logo and colours seemed like a good way to say thank you for the experience. The logo is a great graphic but I quickly found that stitching it to make a nice, neat quilt block was quite difficult. After some trial and error, and lots of time with the machine packed away, I found a way to make the blocks and I am really happy with how it has turned out. I will put a tutorial together for anyone who might be interested in trying it themselves.
The quilt measures 96cm by 116cm, a good size for a cot quilt, is made with cotton fabrics, cotton batting, backed with spots, bound with stripes and heading for it's home with a little bub in Germany.
